The Grand Pacific Health (GPH) Participation Platform is operated by Grand Pacific Health, using software licensed from Open Point Pty Ltd.
The GPH Participation Platform provides information about the work of Grand Pacific Health, partner organisations and Regional Lived Experience, Peer and Carer Network (LEPCN) organisations. It has the aim of connecting with people who have lived/living experience of mental health, suicide, or drug or alcohol challenges.
Content on the GPH Participation Platform is moderated by site administrators from Grand Pacific Health.
Moderation helps make sure people feel safe when they take part online. It aims to create a space where people can share their views and talk with others with care and respect.
How Moderation Works
The GPH Participation Platform uses:
(a) Pre-moderation
- All content is checked and approved by our site administrators before being shared on the site.
- Content will not appear until it is checked. Sometimes this may take a couple of days.
- Content may not be approved if it does not follow our Participation Guidelines
(b) Post-moderation (only used in some spaces)
- All content shared by site visitors is immediately shown on the site.
- Content is then checked by our site administrators to make sure it is in line with our Participation Guidelines.
- Content may be edited or removed if it does not follow the guidelines or purpose of the activity.

Participation Guidelines
Our Participation Guidelines help make the GPH Participation Platform a safe, respectful and useful space for all platform users and staff.
Taking part is a chance to share your views and experience. What you share can help improve mental health, suicide prevention, and drug and alcohol services in your community.
We value your input and ask that you take part safely and show respect to others:
- Never be rude or dismiss other people's comments. Respect the views of other people, even if they are different than your own.
- Keep comments focused on the topic/issue. Do not make personal attacks on others.
- Respect other people’s experience with mental health, drug or alcohol issues and their own beliefs about treatment and recovery.
- The platform should be a safe space for diverse people and ideas. Site visitors should be respectful of cultures and beliefs that may be different from your own.
- Take care when sharing personal stories. Do not share graphic details or images that could cause distress or harm to other site visitors.
- Only share content that is suitable for all ages, including people under 18.
If you feel that someone is not keeping to the Participation Guidelines or Participation Rules, or is at risk of harm, please contact us at involve@gph.org.au or report their post using the ‘report’ function (if available).
Artworks and Images
Some activities allow participants to submit an image.
You must own the image or have the right to share it. If other people are in an image that you own and share, you should have a record of their consent.
You can use an image from a free image website if the website says it is free for public use. Follow any rules, such as naming the person who made the image.
The administrators of the GPH Participation Platform will check all images shared before they appear on the platform. We will not display any image which does not follow the Content Rules or Participation Guidelines.
Do not share images that may cause harm or distress or offend others. This includes images of self-harm, violence, abuse, swearing or offensive terms (e.g. racial slurs).

Cultural Safety and Respect
We acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have faced great harm due to colonisation, loss of land, racism and discrimination. This harm still affects people, families and communities today.
We want this to be a culturally safe, respectful and inclusive space. We want all participants to feel able to take part, share their ideas and be heard. We respect the many cultures, histories and life experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We value the knowledge, views and input they bring to this space.
Racism, discrimination and harassment have no place here. We do not allow hateful or offensive comments about a person’s culture, identity, race or background. This includes racist words, jokes, comments or acts. It also includes things that show a lack of respect for a person’s culture. This applies even when no harm was meant.
Our commitment to cultural safety is about more than taking part. It is about creating a space where everyone feels safe, respected and valued. We take all concerns about cultural safety or racism very seriously. We will act when concerns are raised. If you see a harmful post or comment, or feel unhappy about any content on this site please let us know at involve@gph.org.au
